Britain’s political class only understand the language of quantity. Even if it could be shown that mass migration was beneficial for the economy (it isn’t), the trade-offs are not worth it. Until we are prepared to have a conversation about the effects of immigration beyond economics, we fail to understand why it is so harmful to our country and people. I took Tom Pursglove, former Conservative Minister for Legal Migration, to task on this. The discussion was quite revealing.
